Golden Safari Collection
We saw a number of Rhinos when visiting Kenya and so I decided to paint this Indian Rhino with this cute pointed lips and armour plate type body.
Although I drew the Rhino onto the canvas freehand, I felt paint was also needed to create some of those shadows. so a little different to some of the Golden collection. The task for me was not to overdo the painting and know when to stop!
I love this size of canvas its a favourite.

I wanted to viewer to feel that the animals were truly part of the landscape, their natural habitat- unfiltered. So, I played with spray paint and acrylic paint until I got the background I wanted and from there decided to add the animal simply and directly with professional pens. After that came the gold leaf just to emphasise the rich gold in front of us; that of the landscape and animal itself, we must protect.
