Broadstairs sunrise 12x24in Original Oil on Canvas painting

Enjoying the Kent coastline I don’t always get up for the sunrise but luckily my photographer friend Dave Cosens does.

When I saw this beautiful shot the striking colours spoke to me and interrupted every thought until I began the painting. Bringing this sunrise to life with the smoothness of the sky against the movement of the water on the warming sand was a joy, filling me with a calmness and feeling of hope every time I look at it.

It seemed only right to wrap the painting around the sides of the canvas just as a sunrise wraps all around us
